Our second setting in Sydenham SE26 is ready to welcome a new Nursery Manager and take it forward to its next, exciting phase!

Cuddly Bear Daycare at Sydenham Hill will eventually be a medium-sized setting, having opened earlier this year. We have a beautiful garden and rooms and a great team of skilled practitioners and staff, who genuinely want the best and try their best. Our people are our everything and a new manager is needed to lead, guide and advance us, so that our team’s potential can be fulfilled, and our children continue to be appropriately challenged, learning through play and making the most of their precious early years.

We have fantastic families at both nurseries and a wonderful, local community. And we all share our ethos, that ‘…children thrive best when they feel safe, valued and listened to’.

The Nursery Manager opportunity is…; to be an empowering and inspiring EY leader, role model and manager; with solid EYFS experience as a strong Manager or Deputy in a Good or Outstanding inclusive setting; to continue the trusting and individual relationships we already have in our team, developing staff professionally as we expand; to embed best practice with a rich and fun learning environment, all of which is evidenced and substantiated by the paperwork.

Although expected to be pc literate and be able to use the nursery software (with our help), email, Word and basic Excel spreadsheets, our managers do not invoice fees or offer places – which might be a relief! Our fab admin team is expert in this, leaving you to lead, manage and progress our lovely setting alongside the Owner and wider team, which includes our experienced Deputy Manager, fellow, supportive managers from our sister nursey and our HR manager for advice and support.

Essential Skills;

  • Full and relevant childcare qualification L3 and above
  • Strong Manager or Deputy Manager in a Good or Outstanding high-quality EYFS setting
  • A confident, clear communicator who works collaboratively and makes good decisions with the bigger picture in mind, quickly
  • Organised and logical; makes tasks simple and prioritises ie that paperwork is completed, processes are followed, has a consistent and fair approach
  • Flexible to juggle tasks and work needs/hours
  • Knowledge and experience; EYFS, child development, Ofsted expectations
  • Empathy and resilience skills; that you know your staff as individuals, and care to children and staff are a priority recognise and continually develop them as professionals, work confidently with other key colleagues
  • Hands-on and practical – a task completer
  • Someone who will share our Cuddly Bear ethos, that ‘children thrive best when they feel safe, valued and listened to…’

Senior  or Early Years Practitioners  (L2 & L3 +); Are you special?!  You want to work in genuinely caring and professional nursery and you probably want to develop and grow in your role and career, you want to work with others who feel the same.

For a Senior EY Practitioner L3; you will already have good experience within the EYFS , you are a strong Key Worker and role model to children and colleagues. Room Leaders – new roles! At Sydenham Hill

As we grow in size we have a need for inspiring Room Leaders in each of our beautiful rooms at Sydenham Hill.

Pre-School; Our intrepid pre-schoolers are a great bunch who love dinosaurs, cranes, diggers and role play…like most other pre-schoolers! They love our wonderful Senior, Deputy Manager and lunch cover team, but Sarah  (Deputy) is ready to hand over to an organised and knowledgeable EYFS and pre-school person to lead this group of what will eventually be around 20 children.

Toddlers; Oh, we love these children, they are such fun, and we have a fantastic mix of experienced and nurturing Practitioners, who know these children so well. So they would love someone to bring some lovely leadership for this great team, to organise develop their activities and room.

and Babies; Settling in our littlest, helping with their independence, being a calming and loving influence and reassuring new parents…

For all these roles, you will be at least a L3 in a full and relevant qualification, with some sort of experience of leading or supervising others. Plus experience within that age group and great EYFS knowledge.

We will soon need a new Chef for our  Sydenham Park nursery!

This role is to help us over summer, possibly part-time and then full-time September (40 hours), when our current and fantastic Chef takes on a new role with us.

You will already have some good experience and knowledge of;

  • preparing nutritious and delicious food to an exceptionally high standard
  • working in a busy kitchen environment
  • working well in a small team
  • food and personal hygiene

You will have the ability to;

  • be open to follow our approach and instructions
  • work to tight deadlines
  • have some knowledge of nutrition, food types
  • read and write well in English, to accurately report and complete the essential paperwork
  • work well in a small team, be responsible, receptive, always ready to help out for the bigger picture

We will train you, and the right person will be open to learn, work well together and put into practice our methods.

Housekeeper; 11am-6pm Mon-Fri (around 32.5 hours p week)

We are looking for a new, fantastic Housekeeper to join Jassi at Sydenham Park.

We are proud to have a team of 2 Housekeepers to share the work of this large, busy and fantastic nursery.

The role;

you have some good cleaning experience in a busy environment, awareness of some health and safety, common sense to realise we are working with children, during the day. You clean quickly, to a very high standard. You want to work with friendly people in a good work environment. You follow instructions well.

Essential skills for Housekeeper;

  • be physically fit
  • speak and understand English (we have many different languages here)
  • follow instructions well
  • be flexible in your approach – tasks change daily – we work with children!
  • great timekeeping /keeping to a busy schedule

This role is around 32.5 hours per week; from around 11am-6pm, Monday-Friday.
